There are few things more exciting in pop music than when a new artist who unleashed an explosively brilliant song as their debut single, proves that it was no fluke by releasing an even better one for their second single. It means that you’re on to a very good thing. And that’s precisely what happened today when Norwegian newcomer Alida unleashed the follow-up single to March’s debut ‘Feathers‘. It’s ‘Some Of Us’. And it’s the business.
Incredibly upbeat and uplifting, it’s an effortlessly catchy pop romp that elevates the mood. We would go so far as to say that it is quite probably impossible to dislike this song. Go on, try it. Prove us wrong. You can’t, HA HA WE WIN!!!!
It sounds like a cross between Ellie Goulding, Tove Lo, and well….Alida really. We can’t remember the last time an artist’s first two singles have been this double-knock-out strong. Granted, that’s because we’re not putting any effort into trying to remember, but that’s neither here nor there.
Pop music in 2013 is already an infinitely better place because of Alida. (although we would like to have a word in her ear about the single’s release being limited to just Norway. tut tut tut)
